Concerns raised over downtown strategy, development

A discussion about vacant downtown buildings expanded into a broader debate over economic strategy, city policy and spending priorities during Monday night’s Farmersville City Council meeting.

Several residents and property owners used public comment to urge city leaders to take a deeper look at the challenges facing downtown before moving forward with potential ordinances Monday, April 20.

Douglas Lobby, a downtown property owner, questioned the root causes behind long-standing vacancies and the city’s overall direction.
