The Farmersville City Council took a major step toward expanding regional connectivity Monday, May 4, approving a resolution to advance a $6.7 million trail project while also addressing housing improvements, city signage and community engagement efforts.

The resolution allows the city to move forward with the Northeast Texas Trails project, which will extend a trail segment from Farmersville to Celeste.

Interim City Manager Michael Scott said the project will be funded through an 80/20 split, with the state covering 80% of the cost and the city responsible for approximately $1.28 million.
