Downtown commercial property valuations prompt action

by | May 19, 2022 | Area news, Latest

The Farmersville City Council, responding to what some of its members said are unreasonable increases in property valuation for some downtown businesses, on Saturday approved a resolution that is registering the council’s concern over those increases.

Two councilmembers were absent, but those who attended met in a special meeting at City Hall to receive the resolution drafted by City Attorney Alan Lathrom and to approve it unanimously.

The council agreed at its regular meeting on May 10 to ask Lathrom to prepare the resolution. The action came at the request of Councilman Craig Overstreet, who serves as mayor pro tem and presided over the regular meeting in Mayor Bryon Wiebold’s absence.
