A fatality fire occurred outside Farmersville in the early morning hours of Friday, July 6.

The Collin County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office have not yet made a positive ID on a body found inside 18081 Burden Ranch Estates, approximately one mile from the Hunt County Line.

The residence was owned by Robert Dunbar, 77, according to the Collin County Appraisal District, and situated on approximately 20 acres.

The two-story home was 2,478 sq. ft. and built in 1984. The property and home was appraised at $357,002 this year.

According to information provided by the Farmersville Fire Department, the fire was originally called in as a grass fire. Farmersville, Merit, Josephine and Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the fire along with Collin County Sheriff’s Office and the fire marshal’s office.

Though the fire is still under investigation, neighbors do report seeing numerous fireworks being lit in the area throughout the week.

Farmersville also aided with another structure fire Sunday, July 8 on County Road 547 near County Road 546 in Nevada.

The home was fully involved and ultimately the home owners lost two dogs in the fire. The house is a total loss.

Wylie, Josephine, Farmersville and Nevada Fire Departments responded to the blaze.

The fire remains under investigation.
